Dr. Bariscan Yonel (Senior Member, IEEE) received his B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey, in June 2015, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Troy, NY in December 2020. He is now an Assistant Professor at the University at Albany SUNY. His research interests span applications and performance analysis of machine learning, compressed sensing, and optimization methods for inverse problems in imaging and remote sensing. He currently works towards theoretical guarantees and practical limitations for solving quadratic systems of equations using low-rank matrix recovery theory and computationally efficient non-convex algorithms, with applications to high dimensional inference, wave-based imaging, and array signal processing.
